Crabtree Falls - Devil's Knob

Description: This very challenging and highly scenic ride starts out with a sharp climb over Brent’s Gap and continues with a long, often steep climb up Crabtree Falls Highway along the Tye River, past Montebello to the Blue Ridge Parkway. From there it heads north on the Parkway for 13 miles to the top of Reed’s Gap. The short route descends steeply back to the starting point, while the long route continues on the Parkway for another 4 miles, crosses the Appalachian Trail (on foot) to the back side of the Wintergreen Resort, climbs up to Devil’s Knob, then descends for 10 miles to the starting point.

From Charlottesville, take US 250 west approximately 16 miles. Turn left (south) on Route 151 for approximately 14 miles. Turn right on Mosbys Run (just past Route 664 and the Ski Barn) onto the Devils Backbone Brewing Company grounds and park in the first parking area on the left.
