Mt Solon - Verona

Distance:  39 / 59 miles

Climbing:  75 / 75 feet per mile

Description:  This is a long, hilly ride through the open rolling terrain of the central Shenandoah Valley.  The route heads up the valley from Waynesboro for 10 miles, then heads west across the valley to Mt. Solon before turning back; the cross-valley segments include a number of long rolling hills.  There are near-continuous highly scenic views of beautiful farmland; all in all, the ride makes quite a change from the region east of the mountains.
