Scottsville - Howardsville

Distance:  40 / 50 miles

Climbing:  60 / 60 feet per mile

 

NOTE:  This route has changed as of February 2017.  Both the short and long routes are 3.6 miles longer.  Be sure you are using a current map and/or cue sheet.

Description:  This very scenic, moderately hilly ride starts out through the rolling countryside to Blenheim and Woodridge then south to Scottsville.  From there it continues along the north side of the James River Valley to Howardsville, then over a moderate climb into the Schuyler area before returning north through Alberene and back to the starting point.

Stores:  Mile 25.3 (Porters; short route; to the left as you cross Route 6); mile 28.0 (Howardsville; long route)

 

Alerts: 

1.  The first mile is on Route 20; fast, moderate traffic.  Use caution.

From Charlottesville, go south on Route 20. Approximately 7 miles past I-64, turn right on Red Hill Road (Route 708). The school parking lot is approximately 300 yards further on the right.

 

Note:  Do not park at the school on school days.
